SAMBA, Dec 18: Khelo-India-Sports for peace and development event today witnessed close competitions in district level matches in athletics at sports stadium here.
IR 12th Batallion Comman-dent, Sharief Chouhan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, exhorted upon the participants to play with true sportsmanship.
Later, Chauhan distributed prizes and trophies among the winners and consolation prizes to runner-ups.
In athletics, 173 participants in different age categories took part in which under 100 m race event under 17 years category, Naresh Sharma, Ajay Kumar and Goldy Singh claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In under 20 years category, Akashdeep, Shubham Kumar and Aman Singh bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in 200 m race event while Sahil Sharma, Aman Sharma and Amit Kumar clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in under 20 years category.
In shotput event above 20 years category, Abhishek blowria, Bhanu Partap, Dharam Paul won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively while Shabbir Ahmed, Parush Singh and Sula Singh bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in under 20 years category. Besides, Rakshit Singh, Reshav Singh Salathia and Neeraj Tagotra clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively under 17 years category.
