JAMMU, Aug 25: Two days District Jammu Wushu Championship organized by Jammu District Wushu Championship concluded at Indoor Stadium Bhagwati Nagar here today.
More than 500 players from different schools and clubs participated in the championship.
On the valedictory function, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta distributed prizes among winners
In his speech, he congratulated District Jammu Wushu Association for organizing District Level Championship and providing a platform to the youth to channelize their energy towards sports.
In his speech, he emphasized on Swachh Bharat and conveyed that youth are the brand ambassadors of the society and it is their duty to make the country clean and apprise the followers to make the city neat and clean.
He said that youth are attracted towards drugs, which will ruin their life and requested the youth to join sports and earn name and fame for the country and the UT J&K and make the country drugs free.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Kavinder Gupta former Deputy Chief Minister of the J&K.
In the Championship, Khelo India Center Jammu remained the overall Champion whereas the Doon International School remained runner up and RTMA Club remained the 2nd runner up.
Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer Jammu and Vijay Jamwal SSP (Retd) were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Others present on the occasion were Rajinder Singh International Medalist, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh International Player, Kamal Kishore International Player, Abhishek Jamwal International Player, Ashu Jamwal NSNIS qualified coach, Appu Jamwal, Rohit Thakyal and Ankit Sharma.
In the end, Kamal Kishore District Secretary of the Association presented vote of thanks.
