SAMBA/DODA, July 19: Two day District level Fencing Championships, organised by the District Associations, commenced here today.
The District Samba Fencing Championship is being organised at Indoor Stadium of J&K Sports Council Samba wherein more than 110 boys and girls of different Government/ Private Schools are participating.
Vijay Tagotra, BDC Chairman Ghagwal-Samba was the chief guest of the opening ceremony.
In Under-14 Epee Girls, top two medals were secured by Ridhima Groach and Vanshika respectively and Mannat and Ridhima Jasrotia shared Bronze medal, whereas in Under-17 Sabre Boys, Gold and Silver medals were won by Shivang and Tarun respectively, while Bronze was shared by Dhruv and Akshdeep and in Under-14 Sabre Boys, top two medals were clinched by Rhytham and Khushal, while the Bronze medal was jointly won by Prince and Arun.
Meanwhile, Doda Fencing Championship was organised at Sports and Fitness Centre, Rana Mall Doda City wherein more than 70 boys and girls are taking part in the championship, which was inaugurated by Purshotam Goria, Principal DIET as the chief guest on the occasion.
In Boys Sabre Under-17, top two medals were won by Kamran Ahmed and Rohit Bijial respectively, while Karan Thakur and Sonu Kumar shared Bronze medal, whereas in Boys Foil Under-17, Ravinder Singh and Adil Hussain won Gold and Silver medals respectively and Bronze medal was shared by Swan Kunar and Sujal Sharma and Girls Epee Under-19, top two medals were clinched by Simran Rakwal and Poonam respectively, while Riya Katoch and Amrita Devi shared Bronze medal, besides in girls Foil Under-19, Gunshika won Gold, Mehak secured Silver and Radhika and Samriti shared Bronze medal.
In Girls Sabre Under-19, Sahakshi clinched Gold, Saujana won Silver and Bronze was shared by Farah and Monika.
