JAMMU, Feb 21: 35th District Badminton Championship, organised by Jammu City and District Badminton Association got underway at Badminton Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
In under-19 single category, Sehdev Singh, Abhishek Sudan, Shourya Jasrotia, Ayush Thakur, Shourya Pratham, Ripul Tandon, Sant Singh, Keshav Manhas and Ojas Suri emerged winners by defeating Aryan Raina, Aryan Ganjoo, Parul Mehta, Shubham Dhar, Mayank Rajdhan, Akash Koul, Rupal Tandon, Sarthak Shedev and Satym Tondon respectively.
In under-19 double, Sehdev and Yashdeep beat Parul and Sarthak whereas Ojas and Dheeraj defeated Sant Singh and Satyam, whereas in U-19 girls single, Kushi was defeated from Shamvhavi Rajput and Shrijus Sharma defeated Prabhneet.
In under-19 mixed double, Ojas & Unnati and Dheeraj & Krishika scripted wins by trouncing Satyam & Arishita and Yashdeep & Shrijus respectively, whereas in men single, Tanmay Sharma, Bharat Bhushan defeated Nomil Chib and Balwinder Saini, whereas Vivek Slathia, Rahul, Mujeev-Ul-Rehman, Nalin, Vipul Saini, Raghav Dogra, Tanmay Sharma and Bharat Bhushan defeated Sushil Pandita, Susheel, Varun Sharma, Akhil, Jaideep Singh, Tanish Mehta, Shourya Pratham and Ram Kumar Dubey respectively.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of Satpal Sharma and Vikram Saini.
Dr O D Sharma,vice president Badminton Association of India, Balbir Jamwal, general secretary, Jammu City & District Badminton Association, Anil Gurkha, Pawanjit and Sukhdev Singh were also present during the event.
