JAMMU, Oct 9: Display Your Talent, organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at University of Jammu with huge fanfare.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest and Suman Gupta, eminent artist of the State was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In his address, Prof RD Sharma encouraged students to strive for excellence and quality by making optimum use of their talents. As such activities play a major role in shaping the overall personalities of the students, he urged students to take optimum utility of this platform which has produced a number of achievers in different fields of art.
Suman Gupta shared his experiences of studentship in the University of Jammu and acknowledged the contribution of ‘Display Your Talent’ in channelizing his creative energy in a focused manner.
Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, formally welcomed the gathering and provided a detailed report of ‘Display Your Talent’. She acknowledged the contribution of each and every one in making this event a grand success.
Overall Champion Trophy was won by Institute of Music and Fine Arts. Overall Runners-Up Trophy was won by GCW, Parade. Overall Trophy for Best Student was awarded to Vanshika Jaral from GCW, Parade. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Theatricals was awarded to GCW, Parade. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Fine Arts was awarded to Mohinder Kumar from GGM Science College. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Music was awarded to IMFA. Overall Trophy for Best performance in Quiz was awarded to GDC Akhnoor.
The prizes were distributed in the presence of Prof RD Sharma, Suman Gupta, Prof Satnam Kour, Prof Rajni Kant, Prof SK Pandita, Dr Anupama Vohra, Dr Parmil Kumar and Dr AR Manhas.
Earlier, the event of Folk Dance was conducted in which team of GCW Parade stood first, GCW Udhampur stood second and the third position was secured by GDC Samba. Certificates of Merit were awarded to the teams of GCW Gandhi Nagar and PG Integrated team. Jujhar Singh, Karampal Brar and Randhir Kumar were the judges and Dr Ravinder Singh was the teacher incharge of the event.
Prof SK Pandita, Chairman Campus Cultural Committee presented the formal vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor. Members of Campus Culture Committee, teachers and members of Students Culture Council, University of Jammu were present at the occasion.
Manreet, Kanika, Mohit, Sona, Anjali, Pallvi, Hempreet, Aarti, Divya, Ramnik, Pawan, Muneeb, Bharti, Yasir and Avinash did the hall management. The programme was conducted by Shivika and Payal.
