Disaster preparedness training programme commences

SRINAGAR, May 8: To aware students of their vulnerability to natural and human-induced disasters, a five-day disaster preparedness training programme started at Govt. Girls Secondary School, Pandrethan, Srinagar from today,
The training was organized by Civil Defence in collaboration with School Education Department, Red Cross, Fire Services, SMC and District Administration Srinagar to emphasize the importance to learn life-saving skills, so that in the event of any emergency, the students could protect themselves, as well as others.
During the training the students will be given basic training about Civil Defence, First Aid, Fire Fighting, Search and Rescue by CD trainers Ghulam Nabi, Mohammed Hussain, Shabir Ahmed Pal.
The students will also be trained by First Aid experts, including Dr IPS Bali and Mohammed Akbar Dar, Dy. Dir. and training expert from Fire Services, who will demonstrate firefighting techniques to the students. A fire drill and mock drill will also be held on the conclusion of the programme. Certificates of participation will be issued to each student attending the training.
