Director Sports inaugurates UT level Volleyball tournament

JAMMU, Mar 11: Director Youth Services and Sports, Gazanfar Ali declared open the UT level Under-19 Girls Volleyball tournament at Khel Gaon Nagrota, near here today.
The tournament is being organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (YS&S) Jammu which is being organised under the guidance of Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director YS&S, Mool Raj Uttam, Assistant Director and under the overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
About 17 teams from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the tournament. The tournament will continue for three days wherein best teams/players will select for next level of competitions.
The officials committees and technical officers and other staff members are deputed to make the tournament more successful by DYSSO Jammu, while ZPEOs, PELs PEMs PETs, ReKs, NYCs and contingent in-charges of all the districts were present during opening ceremony.
The Director appreciated the host district officer for better arrangements for contingents. Boarding and lodging along with refreshment for competition days shall be borne by DYSSO Jammu.
The matches were officiated by panel of experts of the department.
District Kulgam defeated Budgam by 2-0 sets (25-20 &25-14), Poonch beat Samba by sets 2-0 (25-2 & 25-4), Jammu got better of Bandipora by 2-0 sets (25-17,   25-7), Baramulla defeated Pulwama by 2-0 (25-21 & 25-01), Kulgam got walkover Kishtwar and Poonch beat Doda by 2-0 sets (25-20 & 25-22).
The Kathua district beat Kupwar by 2-0 sets (25-7 & 25-2), Reasi got walkover Shopian, Udhampur trounced Anantnag by 2-0 sets (25-4 & 25-6), Ramban got walkover Srinagar, Kathua trounced Ganderbal by 2-0 sets (25-21 & 25-01) and Rajouri beat Shopian by 2-0 sets  (25-19 & 29-27).
