Different schools emerge as winners in ‘GANDHIPEX 2019’

JAMMU, Nov 21: A two day Philatelic Exhibition named ‘GANDHIPEX-2019’ by the Department of Posts celebrating 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, came to an end today at Teachers
Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar with different schools clinching prizes in various events.
The exhibition saw a tremendous response from the public especially from school children with the footfall crossing over four thousand.
On the concluding day of the exhibition, students who participated in different events were awarded by the Department of Posts.
Aadaya Sharma from Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony Jammu won the 1st prize under letter writing competition (senior category) while Arindham from Dogra Higher Secondary School Shashtri Nagar bagged second and Mehak Devi from Dr Ambedkar Convent School, Rajpura bagged third prize.
Under the same competition (Junior category) Tejasvi from Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Bantalab, Charanpreet Singh of Shri Guru Govind Singh Hr Secondary School, Kunjwani and Vibhuti Gupta of St Peter Higher Secondary School, B C Road Jammu clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd position.
In the special cover design contest (senior category), the first three positions went to Divya Rathore of KV Bantalab, Aditi Lohiya from Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu and Anvi Choudhary of K.V No. 1 Gandhi Nagar Jammu while in junior category it was Vanshika Charak of Dr. Ambedkar Convent School, Rajpura, Vikrant Hans and Janesha Kour of KV No. 1, Gandhi Nagar Jammu who bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The first three prizes in the quiz contest (senior category) were won by Swastik Thakur & Aqib Choudhary of Sainik School, Nagrota, Shanky Bhat & Kritika Sharma of Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal Road and Ameesha Rajput & Ritul Sharma of Govt Girls Hr Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi while in the junior category, the first position was bagged by Ridhima Kotwal and Rudra Mahajan of Navyug Hr Secondary School, 2nd by Maniya & Bhumi of Govt Girls Hr Secondary School Rehari and 3rd by Seemab Nasir and Yasir Mukhtar of Sainik School, Nagrota.
In the special quiz contest for schools on Mahatama Gandhi, the first prize was bagged by Navyug Hr. Secondary School while 2nd and 3rd prize went to Shri Guru Govind Singh Hr. Secondary School, Kunjwani and Ankur Vidyalaya Public High School, New Plot Jammu.
R N Kohli and other prominent philatelists of Jammu were also felicitated on the occasion for promoting philately activities.
Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle PD Tshering also distributed Dak Sewa and Excellence Awards to the officials of Postal Department for their extraordinary performance.
Earlier, Z A Mir Supdt. of Post Offices, Ladakh Postal Division made the welcome address while C M Bhat, Asstt. Director Postal Services (Philately) presented vote of thanks.
