DODA, Aug 6: To encourage local sporting talent, a wrestling competition was organized by Rashtriya Rifles battalion under Delta Force, here.
This competition was conducted in collaboration with Chirala Dangal Committee.  The organizers said that wrestling has been traditionally a popular game of the region followed by people of all ages and it gives locals a chance to keep up with old traditions and keep themselves physically and mentally fit.
They further said that it was an opportunity provided to the youth of the local area to display their sporting skills and bolster their self confidence.
Around 60 wrestlers hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi participated in the competition.
The event was witnessed by large crowd throughout with great enthusiasm and fervour.
In the hard fought final match, wrestler Tariq Hussain from Gundoh defeated Saddam Hussan from Doda.
The winner was awarded a cash prize amounting to Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 was given the runner-up.
The chief guest complimented the efforts of Delta Force and the Chirala Dangal Community for organizing a successful competition.
