Chandigarh, Oct 26:
Delhi U-19 team continued their rampage as they trounced Haryana by 182 runs to garner five points including a bonus in the Vinoo Mankad Cricket Trophy here today.
Haryana won the toss and elected to field and their decision boomeranged as Delhi openers Bharat Gupta and A P Gumail put on 93 runs for the first wicket in 21 overs before Gumail (31 off 50 balls) was caught and bowled by AR Rana.
Delhi continued to dominate the Haryana bowling and their innings ended at 257 for 6 in 50 overs.
Rana (2-54) was the most successful bowler for Haryana.
Chasing the total, Haryana were bundled out for 75 in just 18.5 overs.
After an opening stand of 23 in 3.5 overs, Haryana batsman were all at sea against the pace attack of Sarang Rawat and Satinder Thakkar as they folded for 75 in 18.5 overs.
Satinder Thakkar (5-41), Sarang Rawat (3-26) and Vision Panchal (2-1) shared the spoils for Delhi.
Today’s loss of Punjab has opened the second slot.
Delhi with 13 points is way ahead with one match in hand while Punjab with 10 points is at second position but have played all their four matches.
In the present scenerio the last encounter between Himachal (8 points) and Haryana (2 points) will have a significant bearing on the result of the second position. If Himachal wins then Punjab makes its exit from the tournament.
Delhi will take on JKCA on October 28 while Himachal will face Haryana on October 28.
