JAMMU, Feb 21: Anandi Gandotra, Shreeya Sharma and Insha Dawood secured first, second and third positions in a debate competition on the theme “Youth against Counterfeiting and Smuggling”, organized by FICCI Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy (CASCADE) in association with Space Communications at Delhi Public School (DPS) today.
On the occasion, HK Lohia, Director SSG, Dr Amit Wanchoo, CEO, Space Communications, SS Sodhi, Deep Chand, D Joseph, Principal of the school, students and staff members were also present.
Nazir Ahmed Khan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Horticulture, Agriculture and Floriculture was the chief guest, who in his inaugural address invoked the spirit of nationalism to fight the evils caused by smuggling and counterfeiting among the students. He acknowledged that the problem was huge and the end consumer was the main sufferer.
HK Lohia emphasized on the role of society in fighting this menace.
Dr Amit Wanchoo in his address said youth of Jammu are vibrant and this is just the start of such campaigns in Jammu.
Deep Chand, Advisor, FICCI CASCADE, emphasized that high rate of tax can reduce consumption of sin products and discourage purchase of such.
Earlier, D Joseph presented the welcome address, while Kashifa Hassan from FICCI Cascade presented vote of thanks.
