JAMMU, June 26: In a bid to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle among the youth, BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Suresh Sharma distributed cricket kits to youngsters from Chowki and Choura Panchayats in Block Chowki Choura. The initiative is part of his commitment to use his DDC fund to develop sports infrastructure across the region.
Sharma has launched a campaign to empower the youth of Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura blocks by providing quality sports equipment to every Panchayat. He said, “Sports instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience. They also steer youth away from harmful influences like drugs and crime.” He urged young people to stay united and channel their energy toward constructive pursuits.
The youth welcomed the initiative, appreciating Sharma’s efforts in strengthening grassroots sports and community development. In addition to the kit distribution, Sharma also inaugurated the ‘Shine Eye Care Clinic’ in Chowki Choura. He congratulated proprietor Kewal Kumar and his family, calling the facility a much-needed addition to local healthcare services.
The event was attended by BJP Mandal President Ashok Kumar Sharma, former sarpanches, local leaders, departmental officials, and respected members of the community.
