DCC defeats Media XI to emerge champions

1st Sidhu Moosewala Memorial T-10 cup

JAMMU, June 11: Dashmesh Cricket Club remained better off Media XI Cricket Club Jammu to emerge champions of the 1st Sidhu Moosewala Memorial T-10 Cricket knockout tournament being played at Railway Ground Jammu, here today. The tournament was organised by Trikuta Cricket & Football Academy under the supervision of Balbir Singh in the memory of Punjabi Singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala on his birth anniversary.
In the first match played between Media XI vs GRD CC, GRD won the toss and opted to bat first and posted a challenging 117 runs on the scoreboard. For GRD, Rommy (30), Nikhil (16), Rahul (14) and Harry (13) were the top contributors with the bat. For Media XI, Rahul Khatri took 3 wickets, while Yash Khajuria also took 2 wickets.
In reply, Media XI with the help of quick fire fifty by Kamal Preet (52 runs off just 22 balls) and Sunil Bali’s (42 runs off 19 balls) chased the target in 8.4 overs with 7 wickets in hand. For GRD, Sanjay took 2 wickets to remain the pick of the bowlers.
Second match of the tournament was played between Trikuta Cricket Club (TCC) vs Dashmesh Cricket Club (DCC), wherein DCC won the toss and opted to bat first and posted 81 runs on the scoreboard in the stipulated 10 overs. For DCC, Manni (25 runs) and Satish (13 runs) were the top scorers. For TCC, Sunny took 3 wickets, whereas Pradeep also took 2 wickets.
In reply, TCC could not chase the target and were restricted to 73 runs in the stipulated overs thus lost the match by 8 runs.
The final match of the tournament was played between Media XI vs DCC in which Media XI won the toss and elected to bat first and posted 61 runs in the stipulated 10 overs. For Media XI, Sumit, Kamal and Vivek scored 15, 14 and 14 runs respectively. For DCC, Satish took 2 wickets.
In reply, DCC chased down the target within 5 overs to emerge champions of the tournament. Satish and Aman scored 16 and 12 runs respectively. Satish from DCC was adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’.
Later, the winners and the runner-up teams were awarded with trophies besides individual prizes were also given to the best performers of the tournament.
