DODA, May 24: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, today inaugurated the Inter-District Zonal Level Chess and Kabaddi Tournament in Doda. The event is organized by the District Administration Doda in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO), under the guidance of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara and the overall supervision of DYSSO Doda, Pritam Singh.
The inauguration ceremony included the administration of a pledge under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (“Get rid of drugs before they get rid of you”) to promote a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
The tournament features competitions in Kabaddi and Chess for boys and girls in the Under-14 and Under-17 categories. Over 200 young athletes from various educational zones participated, showcasing enthusiasm and discipline. Zonal Physical Education Officers and field staff were present to support the event. DC Harvinder Singh lauded the Youth Services and Sports Department for promoting sports culture and urged participants to uphold fair play and strive for excellence in sports and life.
