JAMMU, Apr 5: A wrestling competition ‘Dangal’ was organised in the memory of Coach Ustad Prem Choudhary by Prem Choudhary Memorial Sports and Educational Charitable Trust in collaboration with Akhara Dewan Mandir and Choudhary Gym Moti Bazar, here today.
Kuldeep Sharma, Member Trustee of Prem Choudhary Memorial Trust while highlighting the significance of this event said Ustad Prem Choudhary was not just a coach but a mentor, a motivator, and a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passion for wrestling and dedication to his athletes left an indelible mark on the sport and the lives of those he touched.
Wrestlers from various locations were asked to participate in this exclusive event, where they demonstrate their skills in wrestling and exemplify the essence of fair play and camaraderie.
Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist was the chief guest while Kulbhushan Sharma, a renowned Theatre Artist was the guest of honour. The collaboration between the Prem Choudhary Memorial Sports and Educational Charitable Trust, Akhara Dewan Mandir, and Choudhary Gym highlights a shared commitment to promoting traditional sports and nurturing local talent. The Dangal was officiated by Sunil Sharma, the younger son of Ustad Prem Choudhary and a qualified NIS Wrestling Coach.
Isaq alias Lallu Pahalwan of Jammu won the final bout by defeating Shadab Pahalwan of Punjab. Among others present were Bodh Raj Gupta, Swarn Lal, Raj Kumar, Shiv Kumar and Dangal Management Committee of Akhara Dewan Mandir.
