JAMMU, Dec 15: The historic annual Mahavir Dangal was organised with great enthusiasm at Pangiari Dangal Ground, Akhnoor today.
The event was organised by the Mahavir Dangal Committee, Pangiari, led by President Darshan Chib, with committee members Ganesh Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Bhagwan Sharma, Golu Malaysia, Ravi Sharma and Sonu Kumar.
More than 100 bouts were held, featuring top wrestlers from across India and abroad. Russian wrestler Tamerlan Tapseiv clinched the main bout by defeating Sikander Sheikh of Maharashtra, earning loud applause from the crowd. In other key bouts, Major of Punjab defeated Hubaev of Russia, while Neeraj of Rohtak and Chota Saddam of Hoshiarpur played out a draw.
MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, the chief guest, appreciated the arrangements and assured development of the ground into a Mini Stadium, highlighting the role of traditional sports in keeping youth away from drugs.
