Cyclist Rahul makes Jammu pride by winning Super Randonneurs title

JAMMU, Sept 12: Amateur Cyclist of Jammu, Rahul Sharma (39) brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by winning the Super-Randonneurs title today, organised by Audax India Randonneurs, sister concern of Audax France.
With his guts, persistence and strong willpower, Rahul Sharma with Audax number AIR 17409 broke all the barriers in long distance cycling by completing a series of 200 kms, 300 kms, 400 kms and 600 kms (120, 190, 250 and 370 mi) brevets within the same season and entered in the list of Super Randonneurs of India.
Rahul Sharma has nailed 200 kms (Noida, 09 hours, 40mins) total time 13.5 hrs, 300 kms (Noida, 12 hours, 55mins) total time 20 hrs, 400 kms (Jalandhar, 20 hours, 18mins) total time 27 hrs, 600 kms (Gurugram, 36 hours, 5mins) total time 40 hrs and Long distance cycling in just four months of time to achieve this unique title of Super Randonneur.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Randonneuring is long distance endurance sport where cyclists attempt brevets (bicycle rides) of 200 km or more which has been organised by Indian subsidiary Audax Club Parisien (ACP)- Audax India Randonneurs and oversees brevets in India in conjunction with Regional Cycling Clubs under it. However, it is not a race but in which the riders have to complete the ride within a time frame.
