SOPORE, May 5: A cross country race was today held at Seer Jagir Sopore in which about 200 students from various schools of Sopore area participated.
The race was organized by Govt High School Seer Jagir Sopore from Sangrama main Chowk to the Institute, a 5 km run, wherein Principal Khursheed Ahmad Jan flagged in the race.
The race was categorized into two categories of under-17 and under-14.
Mehraj-u-din Lone emerged as the winner of under-17 category, while Faisal Ahmad Lone emerged as the winner of under- 14 category.
Both of the winners were given prizes on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal stressed upon the timely holding of such events and said that such initiatives not only enrich the minds of youth but also help them in their physical well- being.
“Physical education is a necessary tool for social development besides the other means of education,” Principal added.
