Creative activities best medium to harness energies: Aggarwal

JAMMU, Jan 9: To pick the State contingent for National Youth Festival to be held at Ludhiana in Punjab from January 12 to January 16, 2014, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) organized a 2-day State Level Youth Festival, which concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
Navin Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Aggarwal impressed upon the participants to channelize their energies in creative works, adding that creative activities are the best medium to harness the energies. He assured the youth of necessary facilities to be provided by the Department of Youth Services and Sports for their proper development and exposure in such activities.
Various contingents from allover the State took part in the Festival and the participants displayed their skill in folk songs, folk dances, one act plays, Classic music, flute, tabla, guitar and elocution events.
80 artists including male and female were selected by a panel of officers of the DYSS, besides the representatives from Cultural Academy and the Department of Information.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and Deputy Director, Kanchan Bala.
