CM reconstitutes J&K State Sports Council

SRINAGAR, July 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reconstituted J&K State Sports Council, in which many new faces and outstanding sportspersons have been given a berth with an aim to enhance the standard of sports and games in the State.
Sources said that the Chief Minister alongwith the Minister for Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din and the Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Planning and Development and Youth Services and Sports Departments, after holding meetings and having threadbare discussions with experts in the field of sports and eminent sportspersons, the State Government issued an order with regard to reconstitution of J&K State Sports Council, here today.
Chief Minister will be the president of the new Council, while Sports Minister will be the vice president. The Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Planning and Development and Youth Services and Sports Departments will be the members, while Daleep Thusu has been retained as Member/Secretary.
The outstanding sportspersons, who have been given berth in the Council include Team India player Parvez Rasool, outstanding kayaking and canoeing player, Bilquis Mir, Dushyant Sharma, outstanding wrestler and former president Wrestling Federation of India  ace fencer Rashid Ahmed and Indian Wushu coach Kuldeep Handoo, besides many others.
The other members from Jammu province include Ranjeet Kalra, former J&K cricketer, JU Academician and chairman Media Committee JKCA, Dr Nirmolak Singh, Sports Medicine Specialist and general secretary ABA, Rangil Singh, president J&K Olympic Association, Vijay Gupta, Sports Journalist, Ram Khajuria, general secretary J&K Mountaineering Association, Narinder Gupta, prominent football player, Dr Brij Biloria, retired physical educationist from JU and Siddarth Sharma, president J&K Billiards & Snooker Association.
The members from Kashmir province include Zameer Thakur, president J&K Football Association, Fayaz Ahmed, joint secretary J&K Badminton Association, Nazir Ahmed Khan, former Director General YSS and veteran golfer, Usman Majid, president J&K Water Skiing Association, Prof BA Shah, prominent footballer and senior vice president JKFA, Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, president J&K Kayaking and Canoeing Association, Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo, journalist, JB Singh Bali, prominent hockey player.
Meanwhile, the members from Ladakh region include, Sonam Wangyal, Everester and Padmashri and Sonam Angchuk, Assistant Director Sports JU.
