Chandwa CC sails into semifinals in Cricket tourney

SAMBA, Mar 3: Chandwa Cricket Club defeated Swankha Morh Cricket Club by 26 runs and reached into the semifinals round of the ongoing Police Martyrs Cricket tournament which is being organized in the memory of the Police martyrs at Kehli Mandi Sports Ground, here today
A total of 32 teams from three districts including Samba, Kathua and Jammu are participating in the above tournament which is divided into four pools. Each pool has eight teams, while the pool-C matches are organized at Kehli Mandi Ground, whereas other matches are held in Kathua and Jammu districts as well.
One team will be selected from each pool and the semi-finals and final will be held in Jammu. District Development Council Samba President Keshav Dutt started the match by cutting the ribbon.
Batting first, Chandwa Cricket Club scored 174 runs in stipulated 20 overs, which was not chased by Swankha Morh Cricket Club and bundled out at 148 runs in 19 overs.
Chief guest DIG Shakti Pathak honored the winning and runner up teams by presenting a cash prizes in presence of SSP Benam Tosh, SSP Rajinder Katoch, ASP Samba Surinder Chowdhary, DySP Ajay Anand, DySP Headquarters Mohammad Usman, Police Station In-charge Samba Rajeshwar Singh, SIDCO Chowki In-charge Deepika and others.
“The police are organizing such competitions with the aim of building better relations with the general public and to encourage youth for sports activities so that the sporting talent of the players can be exhibited at State and Inter-state levels said DIG Shakti Pathak.
