AKHNOOR, July 10: Defeating KCC in a close contest by one wicket in the semifinal, the formidable side of Challenger Cricket Club entered the finals of the ongoing Summer Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Govt Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, KCC scored a decent total of 160 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Suryansh was the top scorer with 37 runs off 25 balls, while Pranav contributed 36 off 21 balls and Ankush made 32 off 17 balls. Ateev also chipped in with 21 runs off 16 balls. Manik was the wrecker-in-chief for Challenger, who took 7 wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 4 overs. He bowled with nagging line and teasing length and restricted the rival team to 160 runs on otherwise a very good batting strip and smaller ground. Vimarsh also claimed one wicket for Challenger Club.
In reply, Challenger Club reached the target in the 20th over by losing 9 wickets to win the match by one wicket. Ashu was the top scorer with 47 runs off 43 balls, while Vijay Dogra contributed quick-fire 33 runs of 13 balls with the help of 4 sixes. Harsh and Soumay Jain chipped in with 18 and 13 runs respectively. For KCC, Ankush bagged 4 wickets, while Vivek claimed two. Pranav, R D and Subrat took one wicket each. Manik was adjudged man of the match for his superb bowling display.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma as umpires, while Lucky Mehta and Dayal Singh maintained the scorebook. The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president Singh Cricket Club, Akhnoor.
