CEO SMVDB honours Archers for participating in Asian Para Games

Martial Art-cum-Self Defence Camp commences

KATRA, Oct 23: Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) inaugurated a week-long Martial Art-cum-Self Defence Coaching Camp for girls at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, here today.
In all, 110 students of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal; campers of the Sports Complex Coaching Centre; Government Higher Secondary School, Katra; Government Girls High School, Katra and Trikuta Public School, Katra; besides several other participants from the area are taking part in this Camp. They will be provided coaching in the various aspects of the Martial Art-cum-Self Defence by the highly specialised trainers.
On this occasion, the CEO felicitated Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Vallian, the two archers who participated in the 12th Asian Para Archery Games held recently at Jakarta in Indonesia, besides, Kuldeep Vaidwan, Archery Coach of the Shrine Board, who accompanied the Indian Para Archery contingent to Jakarta.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti have been trained by the Shrine Board at its Sports Complex Coaching Centre at Katra and they have secured 10th and 7th places respectively in the Championship.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO congratulated the achievers of the Asian Para Games for their spectacular performance and exuded confidence that given the excellent facilities, expert coaching, hard work and dedication, the sportspersons being trained at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex will win medals at the various national and international levels, thereby bringing laurels to the country, the state and the Shrine Board.
Dr Arvind Karwani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, spoke about the coaching and all other facilities made available by the Shrine Board at the Sports Complex.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB, spoke about the aims and objectives of organising the Martial Art-cum-Self Defence Coaching Camp, which is part of the annual sports calendar of the Sports Complex.
He also dwelt on the various subjects which will be covered during the camp. He gave details of various achievements of the sportspersons trained in the Sports Complex Coaching Centre.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the SMVD College of Nursing and PC Tanoch, Executive Engineer, SMVDSB.
