Carrom Championship gets underway

SRINAGAR, Jan 22: Two days open Carrom Championship got underway at Islamia College of Science & Commerce, Hawal, here today.
Altaf-ur-Rehman, Physical Director Islamia College, Mudasir Khan President J&K Carrom Association, Adil Rashid Shah, General Secretary J&K Carrom Association, Sheikh Saqib Treasurer J&K Carrom Association, Dawar Rashid Members & Arif Sultan Organising Secretary of the Championship were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Adil Rashid Shah, General Secretary of the Association welcomed all the players and officials and threw light on the rules.
The Tournament is being played under the International Laws of Carrom.
The aim of organising this event is to provide a platform to the interested players to showcase their talent.
130 players are taking part in this championship, which is being played in Senior, Junior, Sub Junior/Cadets category in both boys and girls section.
62 matches were played on the 1st day of this event.
Result: Senior Men: Faizan Mehraj beat Afrid Tahir, Irshad Ali drubbed Suhail Ahmad, Anies Mukhtar trounced Muqsit Wani, Wasim Bashir defeated Uzair Ahmad and Sahil Qayoom outplayed Asif Usuf.
Senior Women: Shariqa Majeed outclassed Aqsa, Fiza Yousuf prevailed over Shafiqa Khan and Adfar Imtiyaz defeated Adfar Hameed.
Junior Boys: M. Burhan got the better of Hakeem Ahrar, Sajid Mehraj outplayed Sahil Ahmed Lone, Aman Khan beat Haziq Manzoor and Nouman Manzoor thrashed Nazim Ali.
Junior Girls: Azra Khan trounced Mehvish Yaqoob, Maheen Rehman beat Iqra Jan and Faleen Arif defeated Lubna Noor.
