JAMMU, June 8: Trouncing their counterparts of District Samba in a close contest by two sets to one (2-1) with (18-25, 26-24, 15-13) in the summit clash, District Budgam eves lifted the title trophy of the State Level Inter-District Under-14 Girls Volleyball Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Akhnoor today.
Rozia and Samira Amin were the star performers for Budgam, who displayed superb spiking skills to accumulate maximum points.
In boys section, District Ramban will lock horns with Kulgam in the title clash tomorrow.
Earlier in the first semifinal, Ramban defeated Anantnag by 2-0 sets in an easy contest by (25-15, 25-19). Shabir emerged star performer for Ramban, scoring maximum points for his team, while in the second semifinal, Kulgam outplayed Rajouri by 2-0 sets in a well fought match by (27-25,25-21). Syed Umar played well and got maximum points for the winners, while Nasir sparkled for Rajouri.
The matches were officiated by Raman Gupta, Mohd Tariq, Narinder Singh, Sanjay, Rajeev, Romesh Kumar, Mohd Jameel and Mulkhraj Sharma.
