JAMMU, July 23: BSF School Paloura launched plantation drive on the farewell of the Chairman of the School, S S Tomar, IG BSF Jammu Frontier, here today.
Plantation drive was launched to present an everlasting gift to the Officer in the form of trees.
It was a befitting occasion for tree plantation and the celebrations totally validated and announced the need for a greener tomorrow to combat the onslaught of the global warming.
Saplings were planted by the chief guest, Mr Tomar amidst the blowing of conch shell and chanting of mantras by five Gods including fire, water, air, land and sky.
The other Officers of the Force, staff members and the students of the School participated enthusiastically and planted saplings with a promise to protect them.
Environmental rally was taken out under the banner of eco -club as an awareness campaign for the general masses.
In the morning assembly, poems related to Mother Earth were presented and talks on saving environment and ecology were held.
Addressing the assembly, Principal BSF School Dr S S Khokhar said, “It is an opportunity to us to fulfill our duty towards environment and towards trees, on which all of us and our coming generations depend”.
Later in a grand ceremony BSF School bid a heart touching farewell to S S Tomar.
A cultural programme was presented by the students to express their love and regard for their most loved Chairman. Atmosphere brimmed with emotions at the tiny toddler’s performance on the occasion.
Dr S S Khokhar, in his speech, highlighted the experience of working under his guidance.
The chief guest was highly moved by the love he received from the BSF School family.
