JAMMU, May 4: Defeating Heritage School in Under-14 girls final and Delhi Public School (DPS) in Under-17 summit clash, BSF School Paloura clinched twin chess titles in the District level Inter-School Tournament in the disciplines of Chess, Carrom and Table Tennis, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in Under-14 girls’ event, Arushi Kotwal of BSF toppled Avhi Gupta of Heritage in an easy contest to claim the title, while in Under-17 girls final, Akriti Kotwal of BSF trounced Nayandeep of DPS to win the trophy.
In Carrom Under-14 girls title clash, Payal Kumari and Jasmeet of Government High School Gole Gujral defeated Pallavi and Tamana of Government High School Old Satwari and won the trophy, while in Carrom Under-17 girls, Muskan and Pallavi of Government Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi got better of Ananya and Dohni of SOS School in the final to win the title.
Meanwhile, KC Public School lifted title trophies in Table Tennis Under-14 and Under-17 girls by defeating Model Academy and Carmel Convent respectively.
In Under-14 girls final, Bhavya Rakwal beat Tasmeen Kousar by (11-4, 11-4), Manvika Gupta prevailed over Ananya Gupta by (11-3, 11-4), while the duo of Bhavya Rakwal and Manvika drubbed the pair of Tasmeen and Ananya by (11-5, 11-5).
In Table Tennis Under-17 girls final, Jhanvi Pandoh outplayed Sheweta by (11-1, 11-4), Shreya Mahajan prevailed over Nikita Chib by (11-1, 11-2), while Jhanvi and Shreya beat Sheweta and Nikita by (11-2, 11-2).
The probables selected during this tournament will represent Jammu District in the forthcoming Inter-District tournaments.
The competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the chairmanship of Ved Prakash, Deputy Director DYSS Jammu, under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
The matches were officiated Sarita Pandha, Hira Lal Pandita, Sher Singh, Tarsem Singh, Vijay Kumar and others.
