JAMMU, Mar 21: 12 Battalion of Border Security Forces (BSF) organised Volleyball tournament to inculcate spirit of sportsmanship among youth of border village under civic action programme at Ganjansoo Marh, here today.
About eight teams of different Panchayats of Marh block including Gajansoo, Gangochak, Galwaday, Karloop, Nai Basti, Souhagni, Jaswan and Dhatyeral participated.
The tournament was inaugurated by BSF 12 Battalion, Dilbagh Singh in presence of former Minister Sukhandan Choudhary and DDC Member Marh, Balbir Lal.
The matches were conducted on round robin league basis to select the best two teams for finals.
The final match was played between Panchayat Souhagani and Panchayat Jaswan wherein Souhagani defeated Jaswan by 3-1 sets and clinched the overall championship trophy.
The Commandant BSF Dilbagh Singh and former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary and DDC Member Marh, Balbir Lal awarded finalists.
Former Minister said that the BSF intend to organize this tournament annually to promote sports among youth of border villages.
Sarpanch, Daljit Singh, Sarpanch Tilak Raj, Sarpanch Vikramjeet Singh, Sarpanch Parshotam Sharma, Sarpanch Lazy Devi, Sarpanch Harjeet Singh and prominent people of the area were also present on the occasion.
