JAMMU, Feb 5: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has called upon the teachers and parents to educate the children about the rich culture and heritage of the State, adding that it would help them to work towards communal harmony in all circumstances.
This was stated by the Minister, while addressing a large gathering of students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff, besides prominent citizens at a prize distribution function organized by Youth Talent Search Forum (YTSF) here at Police Auditorium, here today.
Deputy Inspector General of Police J P Singh, Joint Director School Education A C Aima, Chairperson Lawrence Public School Brig M M Joshi, President YTSF Prabha Jain, General Secretary Esther Williams, besides other representatives of YTSF were present on the occasion.
The function was organized by YTSF with a forum of ten CBSE and State Board affiliated schools of city of temples with the aim to provide an organized platform where children can exhibit their hidden talent in the best spirit of competition and excellence.
Urging upon students to take keen interest in studies to achieve excellence, Bhalla said that the Government has expanded the opportunities of higher and professional education across the State.
Earlier, the function commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Minister. The students of the schools presented a colourful cultural programme depicting the rich cultural ethos of the region.
Later, Mr. Bhalla also distributed mementos and certificates among the participants students of the cultural show.
