BGSBU celebrates 16th foundation day

RAJOURI, Dec 15: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) celebrated its 16th foundation day.
This year the theme of foundation day celebrations was ‘Skill India’. Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor of the University was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Musarrat termed 15th December as the golden day in the chronicles of BGSBU. He highlighted the need and importance of skill India program and highlighted various initiatives of the Government for promoting entrepreneurship development in the country.
Prof Musarrat said that there is a need for promoting entrepreneurship culture among the young men and women of the country. He said that educational institutions must encourage entrepreneurship as a viable career option. “Various initiatives have been taken up by the BGSBU for developing innovation ecosystem by establishing innovation cell, startup cell, entrepreneurship cell, tinkering lab, institutional innovation council and introduction of specialized entrepreneurship development courses in various failed of study,” he added.
Earlier Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs said that this day reminds them the purpose of their existence, the success story so far and the road ahead. He said that under the dynamic leadership of Prof Javed Musarrat the University has achieved many milestones and has become a brand in the academic circles both in India and abroad.
On the occasion, Best Researcher Awards in the category of sciences and social-sciences were given to Dr Feroz Ahmed Mir, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Dr Dil Pazir, Head, Department of Economics, respectively.
Earlier, Dr Susheel Verma and Dr Kafeel Ahmed made presentations on best practices adopted by the University for community engagement and skill development.
On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor also released a book entitled ‘Danish Gha’ written by Zakir Bhallesi.
Proceedings of the program were conducted by Dr Farkhanda Ana, Assistant Professor, SOET.
