JAMMU, Oct 12: As a part of the Diamond Jubilee Year of CRPF, CRPF Jammu sector, organized ‘Run for Unity’ for children (boys and girls) for the flood affected, the under privileged children and specially abled children at Police Gulshan ground, here today.
Five hundred students (boys and girls) of various schools participated in the event. The run for boys was 5 kms and while for girls it was 3 kms.
The run for boys students were flagged off by Dr HL Raskaran, IG (Medical), CRPF, Composite Hospital, Jammu and the run for girls students were flagged off by Rozy Dhar, president, Regional CWA, CRPF, Jammu Sector.
RC Tayal, IPS, Special DG, CRPF, J&K Zone, who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the prizes to young champions and other winners. He also felicitated the specially-abled children.
SS Dogra, DIGP, GC, CRPF, Kootah, Praveen Kumar Sharma, DIGP, CRPF, Jammu Range, Ravindra Singh Rautela, DIGP, CRPF, Jammu Sector Headquarter, Narender Singh, DIG (Ops), CRPF, Jammu North were also present.
Uttam Chand, IPS, SSP, Jammu, Vijay Kumar Garg, Divisional Manager, IOC, Jammu, Sunny Mangotra, Area Manager, Vodafone, Jammu and Surpal Jaiswal were the special guests.
The young champions who stood 1st and 2nd were given cash prizes each worth Rs 6,000 and Rs 5000 with T-Shirt and Cap. Third, fourth, fifth and sixth cash prizes worth Rs 4000, 3000, 2000 and 1000 each were also given to boys and girls, respectively.
Four consolation cash prizes were also given to the students in each category of boys and girls. Besides, commendation certificates were also given to all the participants. Twenty specially-abled children from Red Cross Society were also invited on the occasion and out of them two children were felicitated with special cash prizes worth Rs 500 each and mementos. A specially-abled girl who had won 100 mtrs run at Ajmer was also felicitated special prize of Rs 500 and a memento.
In Boys category, Balwinder Singh (Neha Public School, Mishriwala, Jammu) stood first, Rajinder Paul (Government Higher Secondary School, Buddhi, Jammu) won 2nd prize and Hardil Aziz (KB Public Higher, Secondary School, Jammu, stood 3rd.
In Girls category, Jaspreet Kaur (KV Sanjuwan, Jammu) bagged 1st prize, Anjli Choudhary (Shri Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, Ramgarh, Jammu) won 2nd prize and Tulsi Pandey (GGHSS, Kachchi Chawni, Jammu) managed 3rd place.
