Bali guides Laxmi CC to 32-run win in Veteran T20

*Ravi’s hat-trick, 6-wkt haul go in vain

JAMMU, June 9: Swashbuckling knock of 62 runs by Pardeep Bali helped Laxmi Cricket Club trounce Advocates XI in an easy contest by 32 runs, while, on the other hand, 6-wicket haul including a hat-trick by Ravi failed to take Advocates in the next round of the Salute and Tribute to the Players Veteran T20 Tournament, which got underway at Parade Ground, here today.
The Tournament, organized by Parade Sports Association, Jammu was inaugurated by the senior cricketers of the State including Sant Singh, Randhir Singh (Beeru), Ganeshwar Sharma, Romesh Gupta and Ajit Silval in an impressive and well attended function.
Earlier, batting first, Laxmi Cricket Club scored a decent total of 148 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Pardeep Bali played a brilliant knock of 62 runs off 44 balls, studded with 8 crispy boundaries and one massive six, while Vicky contributed quick-fire 19 runs off 8 balls with 3 fours and one six. For Advocates XI, Ravi was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 6 important wickets including a hat-trick in his quota of overs, while Ajay and Ashwani Goswami took one wicket each.
In reply, Advocates XI managed to score 116 runs in the allotted overs, losing 6 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by a margin of 32 runs. Sushil and Ravi contributed 25 runs each. For Laxmi Club, Munish took 2 wickets, while Ajeet, Amarjeet Singh, Pardeep Bali and Vicky claimed one wicket each. For his fabulous knock Pardeep Bali was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and JD Singh as umpire, while Ajay Sharma was the scorer. Dr Karan Nayyar is performing the duty of the physiotherapist .
Eleven Star will take on J&K Police XI in the next match tomorrow.
