JAMMU, May 8: Badminton, Volleyball and Chess competitions were held on Day-2 of the ongoing Inter-Departmental Tournaments, being organized by the Campus Sports Committee of the University of Jammu at different venues of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
In Badminton (Women), Law School beat Law Department by 2-0; Economics Department trounced Life Long Learning by 2-0; Psychology Department drubbed English Department by 2-0 and Sociology Department got walkover against the Department of Political Science, while in Badminton (Men), Sanskrit Department beat Law School by 2-0; Law Department got the better of Chemistry Department by 2-0 and Physical Education Department defeated SHTM by 2-1.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Tarvinderpal Singh and Sanjeev Sharma.
In Volleyball (Men), Physical Education Department beat Sanskrit Department by 2-1 sets with set scores as 19-15, 25-15, 15-9; Chemistry Department prevailed over Education Depart-ment by 2-1 sets with set scores as 16-25, 25-13, 15-11; Physics Department beat Economics Department by 2-0 sets with set scores as 25-19, 25-12 and Electronics Department outclassed Mathematics by 2-0 sets with set scores as 25-16, 25-12.
In Chess (Men), Sanskrit Department defeated Law Department by 2-0;
Physical Education Depart-ment defeated Geology Depar-tment by 2-1 and Geography Department prevailed over Chemistry Department by 2-0, while in Chess (Women), Law Department drubbed MCA Department by 2-1 and EVS Department got the better of English Department by 2-0.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu visited the different venues of the competitions along with Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia, Ravish Vaid, Jai Bharat and PD Singh.
