UDHAMPUR, May 23: District Level inter school tournaments for boys and girls under-19 years in the discipline of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Yoga got underway at Mini Stadium, Govt Higher Secondary School Boys and Subash Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur, Khairati Lal Sharma.
In Table Tennis for boys’ Under-19 years, 12 Boys drawn from different 4 Schools of district Udhampur took part in the competition, while in Badminton Under-19 years girls, 27 girls drawn from different 12 Schools of district Udhampur took part in the competition and in Chess for boys Under-19 years, 10 boys drawn from 6 School of the district took part in the competition. In yoga 5 girls from 5 schools of district udhampur took part.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
Results:
Table Tennis U-19 boys: Mahi Kailoo (1st); Harshit Ramotra (2nd); Manik Sharma (3rd); Saksham Mahajan (4th).
Badminton U-19 girls: G Brinda, APS Udhampur (Winner); Palvi, Happy Model Hr Secondary School Udhampur (Runners-up).
Chess U-19 boys: Pritam Bijarnya (1st); Vikas Dogra (2nd); Yaah Katoch (3rd).
Yoga U-19 girls: Piyush Sharma (1st); Sulashana Devi (2nd); Mamta Rani (3rd).
The competitions were conducted by Ajay Sharma, Somdev, Sunil Kumar, Sanjeev, Rakesh, Monika, Pooja Sharma, Rakesh Sahwany, Manik Nargotra, Jatin Sethi, Sanjeev Verma, Sanjay Gupta, Jaswinder Singh, Ashutosh, Sourab, Ishan Bandral, Deeraj Tharmat, Des Raj, Surinder Kumar, Rakesh, Ravinder Kumar and Anshu Sharma.
