JAMMU, May 2: Avantika, a group of Contemporary artists and intellectuals today organized “Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award Ceremony and Inter School Solo Folk Dance Competition at Nav Yug Hr Secondary School, Upper Shiv Nagar, here.
About 24 students from ten schools from different districts of Jammu province participated in this competition.
Satpal Sharma, Minister for Housing and Urban Development was the chief guest on the occasion, while Abhimanyu Sharma, Resident Editor and General Manager Dainik Jagran Jammu was the guest of honour.
National Director Avantika, Anand Aggarwal, Commissioner Avantika Jammu, Hardev Singh Jamwal, President Avantika (Jammu), Madan Lal Abrol, President Avantika Rajouri, Amandeep Singh Principal Correspondent of Dainik Jagran and Principals of different schools were the prominent personalities present on the occasion.
The function began with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by ‘Sarasvati Vandana’ by students of Nav Yug HSS.
Participants from different reputed schools exhibited their talent in the competition which enthralled the audience.
Earlier, Preetika Jamwal, Principal of Nav Yug Hr Secondary school presented welcome address.
In Inter school Solo Folk dance competition, Dilbeer Kour, Priyanshi and Palak Bhasin from senior category got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively, whereas In junior category, Princess Sharma, Pragya and Aakriti bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively .
National Director, Anand Aggarwal along chief guest, Sat Pal Sharma and guest of honour, Abhimanyu Sharma felicitated all the Principals with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award for their valuable contribution in Nation building, Environment Preservation, Education and Promotion of Indian Art, Culture and Music.
Speaking on the occasion, Satpal Sharma congratulated the award winners and applauded the efforts of Avantika for promoting traditional art and culture.
Abhimanyu Sharma ji also congratulated the students and awarded the Principals. Madan Lal Abrol highlighted the vision of Avantika and said that all the schools should participate in such kind of competitions.
