Asma Gul opens account for J&K with gold in Bouldering competition

JAMMU, Oct 15: Asma Gul opened the account for J&K with a gold medal in bouldering competition in Sub-Junior Girls category during the 22nd North Zone Sport Climbing Championship, being organized by IMF, North Zone Committee at Salwan Public School, New Delhi.
In a keen contest with Siya Negi and Vani Priya of Delhi, Komal of Haryana and three climbers from different States, in the final round, Asma displayed good composer to make it to the top. As Siya Negi also topped, a super final was conducted in which Asma emerged victorious and won first gold medal for J&K.
Earlier, Asma Gul entered the final round in the Lead Climbing competition also by topping the route along with Komal of Haryana and Siya Negi of Delhi. The final will be held tomorrow.
Similarly, Ajay Deep, Arun Deep and Ritesh Sharma have also entered the final round in Sub-Junior category in Lead Climbing and Bouldering.
In the Junior girls category, Shilpa Charak and Shivani Charak also registered berth in the final along with Nitya Sharma in Lead as well as Bouldering.
Meanwhile, another J&K climber Mrityunjay Sharma impressed everybody with his neat and power packed climbing moves to be placed at the first position in semi-final of both Bouldering and Lead Climbing in the Junior boys category. He will also participating in Speed Climbing which will be held on October 17.
Ram Khajuria, General Secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K was also present on the occasion.
