JAMMU, Feb 15: Brilliant performances by speedster Asif Rasool, middle-order batsman Fayaz Hazari, skipper Ramdayal Punia and medium pace bowler Mohd Mudasir helped JKCA Blue to register a resounding win by 5 wickets over JKCA Orange in the ongoing 50-over Quadrangular Cricket Series, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association to pick the players for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare and Mushtaq Ali Tournaments.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA Orange bundled out for 147 runs in 36.1 overs as the trio of medium pace bowlers Asif Rasool, Mohd Mudasir and Ramdayal bowled with nagging line and teasing length to restrict the opponents to a low total. Sajad Sofi and Inderjeet Singh scored 32 runs each, studded with 6 and 3 boundaries respectively, while Omar Alam contributed 25 off 24 balls with 2 boundaries. For JKCA Blues, Asif Rasool was the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 3 important wickets, while Ramdayal and Mudasir claimed 2 wickets each. Manik Gupta, Amir Aziz and Ishant Gupta bagged one wicket apiece.
In reply, JKCA Blues chased the target easily in 25.4 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Fayaz Hazari played a fabulous knock of 47 runs off 52 balls, studded with 6 delectable boundaries and one massive six, while opener Javed Ahmed Mir contributed well made 40 off 63 balls with the help of 6 boundaries. Wicketkeeper batsman, Obaid Haroon scored unbeaten 28 runs off 22 balls, including 2 fours and one six. For JKCA Orange, Vishwajeet Singh bagged 2 wickets, while Sameer Ali, Omar Alam and Deepak Singh Manhas shared one wicket apiece.
The match was officiated by BCCI Level-1 umpires Amit Gupta and Paramjit Singh, while the BCCI Panel scorer, Ashwani Kumar maintained the scorebook.
