JAMMU, Feb 26: Ashwani Kumar bagged gold in below 55 kg category, while Omkar Singh and Ajay Bharti claimed silver and bronze medals in this category respectively in the Jammu District Wrestling Championship, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
In below 60 kg, gold, silver and bronze went to Bhushan Mehra, Irif Khan and Rustam Choudhary respectively, while in below 66 kg, Lobekesh Singh claimed gold, Sahil Singh clinched silver and Hussain Kumar won bronze.
In below 74 kg, gold went to Younis Khan, while silver and bronze were bagged by Dilbir Singh and Reyzak Ahmed respectively.
Bhadur Khan won gold in below 84 kg category, while silver and bronze medals were claimed by Ranbir Singh and Raj Kumar in this category.
In below 96 kg, Javed Khan and Mohd Akram bagged gold and silver respectively, while in above 96 kg, Ishaq Ahmed bagged gold, while Vijay Kumar claimed silver.
Dilip Thussu, Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed medals and certificates among the meritorious wrestlers on the occasion, while Dushyant Sharma, former president Wrestling Federation of India and general secretary, J&K Wrestling Association, the organizing secretary of the event was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Thussu assured the the members of J&K Wrestling Association that a new hall will be provided to the wrestlers for honing their skill in the new Indoor Complex, which is under construction at MA Stadium, Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Satish Abrol, president, J&K Wrestling Association, Narinder Mahajan, vice president, Ajay Vaid, treasurer, Amit Sharma, secretary Jammu District Wrestling Association, Ravi Singh, manager MA Stadium, Satish Gupta, manager Indoor Complex and coaches Om Parkash, Dheeraj Sharma, Jai Bharat and Sahil Sharma.
