*Aadhvik, Paras script wins in U-7 & U-9 categories

JAMMU, Feb 22: Ashutosh Jamwal won Jammu district Chess Championship titles in open category, whereas Surinder Gupta and Lakshya Choudhary clinched 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in District Jammu Chess Championship, organised by J&K Chess Association, here today.
Aadhvik Gupta emerged winner of under-7 boys category while Ishaan Choudhary and Devansh got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, whereas in under-9 boys category, Paras got 1st position and Pazhany and Hazim clinched 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Surinder Gupta scripted wins in sub junior and junior categories while Laksh Choudhary also won under-13 and under-11 age categories titles, while 2nd and 3rd positions in under-11 category went to Abhiveer Sharma and Aarav Gupta respectively. Superb Jain won bronze medal in under-19 boys while Ayush Gupta also won bronze medal in sub-junior category.
J&K UT BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi was the chief guest of the event and inaugurated the championship at NEK Hotel in the presence of Atul Kumar Gupta president All J&K Chess Association and Baldev Raj vice president.
He appreciated the work done by Association and assured full help to players and wished them good luck. The championship is being organised under the banner of J&K Sports Council and All J&K Chess Association.
A 76 year old veteran player, Rashid Feroz surprised everyone by participating in the event and was given warm welcome by Association members.
The chess matches were officiated by Vivek Bharti with the help of Ravi Sharma.
