JAMMU, Nov 13: Soham Kamotra and Arushi Kotwal brought laurels to the State in the National Amateur Chess Championship held at New Delhi.
Soham got 2nd position in 2000 Rating category in men’s section, while Arushi bagged 1st position among women in 2000 and 1700 Rating categories and also 2nd position in 2300 Rating categories women.
A total of 267 players from around 20 States from across the Country participated in this event.
All J&K Chess Association members gave warm floral welcome to both the players in a function organized at Hotel Nek.
“It was a wonderful show by J&K kids,” said Atul Kumar Gupta, President, All J&K Chess Association.
He said that the future of J&K Chess is very bright and hoped that J&K will get its 1st International Master very soon, adding that the Association will continue to give best possible platform to J&K players.
Now, both the players can participate in World Amateur Chess Championship next year.
