JAMMU, Nov 4: International footballer and son of soil, Arun Malhotra met FIFA president, Gianni Infantino during the function regarding introduction of football in the school program, organised by All India Football Federation (AIFF)’s new executive committee.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the FIFA, Education Ministry and the AIFF to introduce the Football for schools programme in India, which will see the game of football being propagated to a large number of schools across the country.
Before signing the agreement, Infantino said, “I very much believe in India’s potential. India is a great nation and it is a continent in itself with lots of skill and not just in football of course. The most important thing is the heart and passion that the country has. We need that in football.”
“It’s privilege and honour to meet people who are governing world football and we are hopeful and sure with the support of AFC and FIFA, Indian football will take new height in coming future under the leadership and guidance of our president Kalyan Choubey and also thankful to ONGC, which always encouraged and motivated our sportspersons,” said Malhotra.
On the sidelines of the recently concluded FIFA under-17 Women’s World Cup, Arun held a meeting with FIFA president and briefed him about the football scenario of India as well as J&K. Earlier, he had met Asian Football Confederation Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and AIFF President Kalyan Choubey and had briefed them about the progression of football in J&K.
