JAMMU, May 21: An Art Gallery within the premises of Art School of KC Public School was officially inaugurated by Sudarshan Mahajan, Chairman of KC Educational Society, here today.
The proceedings started with the cutting of the ribbon followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries in presence of students and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mahajan said that it was the culmination of a long-cherished dream to set up an Art Gallery in the School in order to showcase the creative work of the gifted children of the School.
Also present on the occasion was James Hoyle, Global Awareness Coordinator from Skipton Girls High School, North Yorkshire, UK, who is on an official visit to KC Public School, under an exchange programme sponsored by the British Council.
After the inauguration of the Gallery, Mr Hoyle spent considerable time admiring the creative work of the children. He was vociferous in his appreciation of the Gallery and expressed the view that a School Art Gallery with such a professional look was something unique not only in India but also in the world.
The Gallery is a spacious area within the premises of the Art Arcade that houses three studios for the children to work in and all the studios are well furnished and offer the children a congenial ambience to express their creativity through painting and drawing.
