Army to organize T20 Cricket Championship for border youth

JAMMU, Sept 29: Based on the lines of the much popular Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian Army has stepped forward to organize a similar “Jagruk Hindustani Premier Cricket League” (JHPCL) in Jammu.
The league has been planned by Western Command of the Indian Army for the youth of Jammu and adjoining border areas like Arnia, Samba, Dinanagar & Udhampur.
The tournament is planned in two phases. The first phase will be conducted from October 5 to October 15, 2015, wherein 48 teams representing various sub-regions would be playing amongst themselves. The winner teams will be fielded for the Super Six, the second phase.
The ‘Super Six’ teams namely Jammu Janbaaz, Damana Jaguars, RS Pura Arsenals, BD Bari Tigers, Kathua Kings And Samba Sunrisers will compete with each other in the JHPCL.
The ‘Super Six’ matches are scheduled to be held at Zorawar Stadium at Sunjuwan Military Station from October 19 to October 26, 2015.
This league also aims to encourage the local talent and provide them with an apt platform to showcase their abilities.
