JAMMU, Jan 14: To encourage sportsmanship among the youth and their participation in sports activities, sports equipment was donated to Government Stadium, Poonch, under the aegis of Poonch Brigade.
The aim of this project was to spread a message of goodwill and sportsmanship in Poonch.
Provision of sports equipment will go a long way in encouraging spirit-de-corps amongst the youth of Poonch and will play a vital role in bringing communities together, having a social and cultural impacts amongst the youth of the border town.
An exhibition hockey match was organized to highlight the event. The match was played between Poonch XI and Stadium XI.
Thereafter, Commander Poonch Brigade handed over the sports equipment to Poonch Stadium. The commander praised the sports culture of Poonch and asked the youth to move ahead with big dreams. The occasion was also graced by the presence of other eminent citizens of Poonch.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander Poonch Brigade said that the endeavour of Indian Army is to encourage the youth of the area to hone their sporting skills to shine at the State/National level.
He said, the provision of such sports equipments will definitely prove to be a yet another milestone in encouraging the youth to achieve greater laurels in future.
