Srinagar, Oct 11: Army today said that a Volleyball match was organized by a local Army unit at Sumbal area of Bandipora district.
A Defence spokesman said the Army unit based at Manasbal organised a friendly Volleyball match between Sumbal and Zalapora at Chinar 9 Jawan Club in Sumbal.
“The match commenced with singing of National Anthem at the training ground with an overwhelming turnout of spectators from adjoining villages. Sumbal Elite won an extremely interesting and keenly contested match for which people turned out in large numbers to cheer their teams,” he said.
The participants and the spectators lauded the initiative and expressed hope that such events by Army will give a fillip to Army-people interaction and foster a healthy competitive spirit amongst the youth of the area, the Defence spokesman added.
