Army organizes technology awareness tour for girls

JAMMU, Aug 5: As part of Army’s multi-dimensional ongoing efforts to empower the Kashmiri youth, a technology awareness tour for girls of SSM College of Tral, was flagged off at Badami Bagh Cantonment, today.
A similar tour for boys of SSM College was conducted by Army in July 2015 wherein a sizeable number of girls present in the ceremony expressed their desire to go on a similar tour. Acting on the request, Army flagged off ‘Technology Awareness Tour’, comprising 20 girls of Srinagar School of Management College (SSM), Dewar for Srinagar-Delhi-Indore and back
The technology awareness tour is a unique experience towards providing exposure to these girls about latest technological developments and management techniques being followed in other parts of the country.
This tour gives them a chance to know what higher education and employment opportunities are there waiting for them.
During the course of 12 days tour, the students would also be interacting with the chief of Army Staff, Northern Army Commander and various senior dignitaries.
The tour children would get an opportunity to meet President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan and witness the PM’s Speech on Independence Day at Red Fort.
They would also visit various Centres of Excellence in the country like IIT Delhi, IIT Indore and IIIM Indore and visit National Science Museum.
The students would also visit the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering and Infantry School at Mhow near Indore in MP and other premiere training institutes of the Army.
Witnessing the Historic Flag Hoisting Ceremony and PM’s address at Red Fort on the occasion of 69th Independence Day will be a unique opportunity for these twenty young minds.
The tour was flagged off by Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, General Officer Commanding Chinar Corps, from Badami Bagh Cantonment in presence of a host of civilian and army dignitaries, teaching faculty of SSM College and parents of participating children.
