Srinagar, Aug 11: Army today organized a grand Talent Hunt event at Badami Bagh Cantonment under the aegis of Chinar Corps here in which children from various schools participated.
A defence spokesman said here that young children of various schools from all over the Valley including AGS Bandipora, AGS Phalgam, AGS Handwara, AGS Boniyar and AGS Balapur performed with infectious zeal and vigour to a rapt audience comprising of proud parents, relations, teachers and mentors of the equally proud performing children as also students of other schools, civilian dignitaries and the Army brethren of the Kashmiri people.
“Amongst the dignitaries who were present to witness and enjoy the unfolding talent were the Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Subrata Saha, Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Anil Chauhan, GOC, 31 Sub Area, Maj Gen AK Das, GOC, Kilo Force Maj Gen Asit Mistry, IG BSF Jagat Singh and Vice Chair person, SSM Engineering College Dilferoz Quazi. The whole programme was also judged by a distinguished panel of judges. The participant were felicitated amidst rapturous applause by an overwhelming audience which gone a standing ovation to all the young children,” he said.
The spokesman said that the prizes were distributed in solo and group performances. “In very high quality solo performances, Master Basit Iqbal Khan bagged the first position whereas Master Shiraz Ahmad Sheikh and Master Shahid Malik stood second and third respectively and Master Sahil was given the consolation prizes. In the group performances, AGS Bandipora secured the first position, where as AGS Handwara and AGS Boniyar secured second and third positions respectively with consolation prizes going to AGS Balapur and AGS Boniyar,” the Defence spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Subrata Saha complimented each and every child for this exceptional talent and confident performance. He also congratulated the parents and teachers for not only encouraging their children to participate in such cultural programmes which would not only help them develop an all round personality but also affording them opportunities to nurture their talent. “The GOC exhorted the children to continue their quest for excellence for only that could pave the way for a bright and successful future,” the Defence spokesman added.
