SRINAGAR, Mar 23: Army organized a seven day Skiing Course at Gulmarg for 60 young and dynamic boys and girls from all parts of Kashmir Valley in association with Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg.
An Army spokesman said the initiative is aimed towards inculcating the spirit of adventure in the younger generation, skill building and also generating opportunities for self employment amongst the youth.
He said during the seven day course, participants will be exposed to introductory and basic skills of skiing. “The venture has been received positively by the participants as was evident from the enthusiasm displayed by them.
The course will culminate on March 28 and a graduation ceremony will be organized wherein all participants will be awarded certificates of merit on successful completion of the course,” he said, adding, “Besides generating job opportunities, this unique initiative will go a long way in promoting tourism and in furthering the goal of peace and harmony in the State.”
