Army organized football tournament concludes

SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Army today said a football tournament organized by it along with local sports authorities concluded today at Shar-e-Shali in Khrew area of Pulwama district.
A defence spokesman said six teams from South Kashmir – Etihad FC, Saffron FC, Pantha Chowk FC, Shining Star FC, Pulwama FC and Khrew FC competed for the top honours.
“The tournament was played on a round robin basis over a period of nine days culminating into the finals. As the tournament progressed, the teams exhibited some exceptional sporting skills and healthy competitiveness providing a pleasurable spectacle to a good swell of cheering cowds that came to watch the matches on all days,” he said.
The spokesman said Etihad FC and Pantha Chowk FC emerged as the top two teams which clashed for the championship trophy in a keenly contested final which the former won with a scoreline of 2-0.
The tournament concluded with distribution of prize money and trophies to the winner and the runner-up teams while certificates of participation were awarded to all the playing members, the defence spokesman added.
