SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Army in association with SahiWali Institute of Martial Arts and State Taekwondo Federation organised a district level Taekwondo Championship from AGS Hajin Township under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
A defence spokesman said a total of 150 Martial Arts enthusiasts from various clubs participated in the event under various categories and showcased their talent. “The event was a grand success and witnessed by locals as well as people from other villages in large number,” he said.
“Martial Arts veterans Izaz Ahmed (Coach from State Taekwondo Federation) and Aafaq Sadiq (Instructor and Secretary of Taekwondo Association, Bandipora) were the Judges for the event. Manzoor (Instructor, Sopore) and Faroq Ahmed (Instructor, Bandipora) were the referees and ensured smooth conduct of the event,” he said.
The event was organised with an aim of developing the interest of youth towards fitness activities as well as sensitizing the youth of the social evils such as drug menace, the spokesman added.
